The Federal Courts and the Canadian Intellectual Property Offices will be closed on Monday September 30th for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
This day of recognition has been included in the list of days CIPO is closed in the Patent Rules (s5), Trademark Regulations and Industrial Design Regulations.
In the Federal Court, the definition of ‘holiday’ in the Federal Courts Rules incorporates s35 of the Interpretations Act, which includes September 30th, although the Rules do not adjust the closure to Monday if September 30th happens to fall on a weekend, as it did last year.
