Benoit Duchesne of Gowling WLG was appointed as a Prothonotary of the Federal Court today, bringing the number of Prothonotaries to nine.

As a litigator with broad interests, Benoit’s practice includes representing clients in subject areas ranging from construction law, estate law, insurance law, intellectual property law, consumer protection law and real estate litigation, to shareholder litigation, injunctions, oppression applications, not-for-profit litigation and international private law litigation. Benoit is also a member of the firm’s Expropriation Law Group and Municipal Law Group.

Benoit is a part-time civil procedure professor in the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law’s Canadian Law Program, a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Political and Parliamentary Law, and is an avid guitarist.
