A private member’s bill, C-440 was introduced yesterday that would abolish Crown Copyright.
The legislation was introduced by the NDP’s Critic for Innovation, Science and Economic Development, Brian Masse (Windsor West) – see press release.
There have been a couple of recent cases that touch on Crown Copyright:
- Keatley Surveying Ltd. v. Teranet Inc. was argued at the Supreme Court of Canada last month
- P.S. Knight Co. Ltd. v. Canadian Standards Association, 2018 FC 222 was released in December 2018 with a dissent and leave to appeal to the Supreme Court was filed in February 2019.
