Amendments to the Trademarks Act and Regulations will come into force on June 17, 2019 implementing the Madrid, Nice and Singapore treaties.
The long awaited changes will involve substantial changes to the act and rules on many aspects of trademarks, particularly the application procedures. These changes date from January 2014 (see earlier post) when the treaties were first tabled and Bill C-31, the Economic Action Plan 2014 Act, No. 1 introduced on March 28, 2014 (earlier post).
