The Honourable Sheilah L. Martin was appointed today to the Supreme Court of Canada. In the Federal Court, Justice Paul Favel was appointed to replace Justice Russell who elected to become a supernumerary judge. Appointments were also made to the Saskatchewan and Quebec courts.

Justice Paul Favel (link) was formerly at McKercher LLP in Saskatoon specializing in Aboriginal law with an emphasis on corporate and commercial law relating to First Nations development.
In other courts, Justice Robert Leurer (link) was appointed to the Court of Queen’s Bench for Saskatchewan, and Justice Suzanne Gagné, Justice Carl Thibault, and Justice Isabelle Breton were appointed to the Superior Court in Quebec (link).
