The Honourable Richard Southcott has been appointed to the Federal Court. Previously, he was Vice President and General Counsel at Irving Shipbuilding in Halifax. Judicial appointments were also made today in Manitoba, Ontario, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
Justice Southcott (bio) while in private practice with the firm of Stewart McKelvey, he pratised in the areas of marine law and commercial litigation. Justice Southcott is the third judge appointed to the Federal Court this year, following Justice Gascon and Justice Bell (in February).
Manitoba – Justice Rivoalen has been appointed Associate Chief Justice of the Court of Queen’s Bench.
Ontario – Justice Lois Roberts has been elevated to the Ontario Court of Appeal and Justice Kenneth Hood, formerly of Schneider Ruggiero LLP of Toronto has been appointed to the Superior Court of Justice.
Nova Scotia – Justice Lester Jesudason, formerly with the firm of Bios, Nickerson & Bryson has been appointed to the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia.
New Brunswick – Justice Marie-Claude Blais, formerly with McInnes Cooper has been appointed a judge of the Court of Queen’s Bench.
