Judges were appointed today to the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Quebec Court of Appeal, the B.C. Court of Appeal, the Saskatchewan Court of Queen’s Bench, the Superior Court of Quebec, and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. In other judicial news, former Supreme Court Justice Ian Binnie has announced that he is joining Lenczner Slaght.

The appointments today include the Honourable Edward W. Ducharme and the Honourable Sarah H. Pepall to the Ontario Court of Appeal both formerly of the Ontario Superior Court to replace Justice Moldaver and Justice Karakatsanis who were appointed to the Supreme Court of Canada last fall.

As blogged previously, Justice Binnie has had a significant role in the development of intellectual property in Canada including writing the decisions in Whirlpool and Free World Trust, the leading cases on claim construction, Veuve Clicquot and Mattel on famous trademarks, Théberge and Tariff 22 on copyright infringement and Cadbury Schweppes on trade secrets.
